Breakfast is a leisurely meal and served at any time you choose up to 9.30am.
We offer freshly-pressed orange juice, tea or coffee, brown or white toast and different kinds of home-made jams. There is a selection of fresh fruit and yoghurts, and a choice of muesli, bran flakes or, if you are feeling particularly Scottish, we can make porridge.
If you want a cooked breakfast (and most people do), you can create your own personal combination from eggs (boiled, fried, poached or scrambled – or duck eggs, if they are available), bacon, sausages, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes. Or you can simply ask for a bit of everything.
Dinner is available most evenings and is served at 7.30 p.m. We offer a set three-course meal based around whatever is good and fresh in the local butchers or the fish shop that day. Vegetables and fruit come from the garden whenever possible.
We ask you to let us know in advance (at breakfast is fine) if you would like dinner that evening – and we do our very best not to cook anything that you don’t like.
Laurence likes to create dinners where all three courses complement each other. Chinese, Indian, Moroccan, French and Italian dishes all feature on our menus. As do some of Laurence’s own recipes, which will feature in a future cookbook based on menus at Glenholme.
Our normal charge for a three-course dinner and coffee or tea is £40.
A vegetarian menu presents no problems – provided we know in advance.
Please note: We do not have a licence to sell alcohol. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine, beer or whisky (we do not charge a corkage fee), but please be aware that we are unable to offer or sell any form of alcohol.
