the rookery at glenholme kirkcudbright self-catering cottage
Laurence loves cooking and, unless he is away – which does sometimes happen – he enjoys cooking dinner for Rookery guests.
Dinner is usually served at 7.30 pm in our Dining Room, which looks out on to the lawn and the orchard and is hung with paintings specially commissioned for the house by the well-known landscape artist, Alan Rankle.
We offer a set three-course meal based around whatever is good and fresh in the local butchers or the fish shop that day – or, in the season, on local game. Vegetables and fruit come from the garden whenever possible.
We ask you to book a day or so in advance – and to let us know if there are things you don’t or can’t eat, so we can design a menu to suit you.
Laurence likes to create dinners where all three courses complement each other. Chinese, Indian, Moroccan, French and Italian dishes all feature on our menus. As do some of Laurence’s own recipes, which will feature in a future cookbook based on menus at Glenholme.
Our normal charge for a three-course dinner and coffee or tea is £40.
A vegetarian menu presents no problems – provided we know in advance.
Please note: We do not have a licence to sell alcohol. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine, beer or whisky (we do not charge a corkage fee), but please be aware that we are unable to sell any form of alcohol.
